Lung Cu is a region in the extreme northeast of Vietnam, located in Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province. This area is renowned for its limestone landscapes, majestic scenery, and the unique culture of ethnic minorities residing in the region. It attracts tourists with its spectacular views of high mountains, terraced fields, and impressive rocky trails.
Additionally, Lung Cu is famous for the flagpole at its namesake mountain pass. The Lung Cu Flag Tower is a significant symbol, often considered the easternmost border of Vietnam. It is not only a captivating tourist destination but also a national emblem, symbolizing the resilience and endurance of the people living in this region.
With the distinctive culture of ethnic minorities, Lung Cu is also a destination for exploration and gaining a deeper understanding of the life, traditions, and arts of Vietnam's ethnic communities
Originating the Nghiem Son mountain range (Yunnan, China) at an elevation of 1,800 meters, the Nho Que River in Ha Giang flows in a northeast direction, traversing treacherous and wild mountainous terrains, and finally reaching the commune of Lung Cu, Dong Van, to enter Vietnam. The river continues its course through the mountain pass of Tu San, along the Ma Pi Leng mountain range. Upon reaching Meo Vac, it bifurcates two branches, flowing the territory of Cao Bang province, before ultimately merging the waters of the Gam River at the Nà Mát junction
The Nho Que River lies tranquilly at the foot of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, a renowned destination that many young travelers exploring Ha Giang are familiar with. Throughout most of the year, the water of the Nho Que River exhibits a breathtaking emerald green, shimmering amidst the cold gray stone mountains. The serene river flows beside lush green patches within the grandeur of ancient forests, rocky mountains, and the sky.
Visiting this region and exploring the Nho Que River in Ha Giang, one is compelled to conquer the Ma Pi Leng Pass and, conversely, traverse the pass to admire the majestic scenery of the picturesque green river. Nho Que and Ma Pi Leng form a spectacular pair in the landscape of Ha Giang tourism, for without one of the two, the beauty would not be complete
The ideal time to visit Ha Giang is September to around March of the following year. During this period, not only is it the season of ripe rice fields and blooming flowers that adorn the sky, but it is also the time when the Spring festivals of the mountainous people take place. Take note of these vibrant Ha Giang landmarks to ensure you don't miss the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of this highland region!
August - October: This is the time when the terraced fields in Ha Giang are uniformly covered in the golden hues of ripe rice, with the most stunning views found in the Hoang Su Phi area.
October - November: If you are enchanted by the beauty of triangular flower fields, why not plan your trip to Ha Giang around October to November? Don't forget to visit the Lung Cu Flagpole, the cultural village of Lung Cam - Sung La, the foot of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, and Thach Son Thanh - Quan Ba for the best views of the most authentic triangular flower fields
All times of the year are beautiful in Ha Giang, with each season showcasing its unique charm. However, from December to January, the weather tends to be quite cold, so it's advisable for everyone to prepare warm clothing
